Lash Lift Aftercare: The First 24 Hours and Beyond

A lash lift earns its reputation as the lowest maintenance treatment in the studio. No infills, no daily curler, no special routine. But there is one window where what you do genuinely matters, and it is the first 24 hours, because the lift that was shaped in the salon finishes setting at home.

Here is the whole of it, from the drive home to your next appointment.

The first 24 hours

Keep your lashes completely dry. No water on the eye area, no steam, no saunas, and skip the sweaty workout until tomorrow. The keratin solution is still settling the new shape into each lash, and moisture in this window is the one thing that can soften the result.

No eye makeup or mascara. Give the lashes one clean day before anything goes near them.

Hands off, face up. Avoid rubbing your eyes, and if you can manage it, sleep on your back the first night rather than face down into the pillow.

That is the entire job. Get through one dry, gentle day and the hard part of lash lift aftercare is already behind you.

The first week

From day two, life goes back to normal with two small habits. Brush your lashes upward each morning with a clean, dry spoolie, which keeps the lift sitting uniformly while it fully matures. And be gentle with removal at night, no vigorous rubbing, just a soft cleanse around the eye area.

Mascara is fine from day two if you want it, though most clients find the tint makes it unnecessary. If you do wear it, choose a regular formula over waterproof, not because waterproof harms the lift, but because removing it demands exactly the kind of rubbing your lashes do not need.

After that, the easy part

This is where a lift pays you back. You wake up with the curl already in place, swimming and showering are completely fine, and there is nothing to top up. The lift grows out gradually with your natural lash cycle, and most clients rebook somewhere around the 6 to 8 week mark, when enough new, unlifted lashes have grown through to soften the effect.

Keeping lifted lashes strong between appointments

The lift itself needs nothing, but the lashes underneath it are living hairs on the same renewal cycle as the rest of you, and conditioned lashes hold a lift better and look fuller between appointments. Your treatment finishes with a nourishing serum brushed through the new lift, and there are three things we trust for home care, all available at the studio and in our online shop.

Elleebana Elleeplex Aftercare is a daily treatment made specifically for lifted lashes and brows, feeding the hair the protein it uses to stay strong between appointments.

Eye D'or Happy Keep Lift Coating is a clear Japanese coating brushed on like mascara. It protects the lift through the weeks, adds a soft gloss, and gives the curl a little daily support.

RevitaLash Advanced Eyelash Conditioner is the one clients ask for by name. A nightly conditioning serum along the lash line that supports the look of stronger, healthier natural lashes, which is the foundation every future lift sits on.

None of these are required. They are the difference between a lift that looks good and lashes that stay in genuinely good condition underneath it, year after year.

A few quick answers

When can I shower? After 24 hours, freely. On day one, keep the water off your face and the bathroom door open so the steam stays light.

When can I swim? From day two. If you are a daily pool swimmer, a quick fresh water rinse afterwards is kind to both the lift and the lashes.

My lashes look slightly too curled today. Is that normal? On day one, yes, the lift relaxes a touch as it settles over the first day or two. If anything still looks uneven after that, contact us rather than attempting a fix at home, a small adjustment on our side is simple.

Can I use an eyelash curler on lifted lashes? Please do not. The lift has already done that job, and mechanical curling stresses lashes that are holding a set shape.

What if my lashes were already damaged before the lift? Then the aftercare matters more and the timeline runs longer. We wrote a full guide to lash lift damage, repair and recovery that covers exactly this.

How soon can I have another lift? We re-lift once the previous one has substantially grown out, usually that 6 to 8 week rhythm. Lifting over a still-lifted lash is how damage starts, and we will always tell you if your lashes need another week or two first.

The short version

One dry, gentle day. A soft first week with a morning brush. Then nothing but easy mornings until the regrowth tells you it is time again. Condition the lashes underneath if you want the lift after this one, and the one after that, to sit on the best possible foundation.
