What are lash extensions?
Lash extensions are individual synthetic or silk fibres, bonded one-by-one to your natural lashes using a professional-grade adhesive. Unlike strip lashes, they move with your natural lashes, last for weeks, and require no daily makeup.
At En Beauty, Izumi uses the Niawase approach, bringing to Auckland a Japanese philosophy of finding the shape that belongs to you. Rather than applying a standard set, she analyses your eye shape, face structure, skin tone and lifestyle before choosing the length, curl and thickness of each lash.

What happens at your appointment
Your first appointment includes a full consultation. Izumi will discuss your lifestyle, the look you’re after, and the health of your natural lashes before applying a single extension.

A full set takes approximately 1.5–2 hours. Infill appointments are 30min – 60min. We recommend booking infills every 2–3 weeks to maintain fullness.

Izumi is an internationally awarded lash artist now in Auckland with over a decade of experience. She has competed and placed in lash competitions across Japan, UK, Australia and New Zealand, bringing a level of precision and technique that forms the foundation of every treatment at En Beauty.
Every En Beauty therapist is personally trained by Izumi to her competition-level standard, no shortcuts, no compromises. Treatments are carried out with the same precision and care that has defined her award-winning work.
Her Niawase philosophy, the Japanese concept of finding the shape that truly belongs to you, guides every decision about length, curl, thickness and placement.

Do lash extensions damage natural lashes?
When applied correctly, lash extensions do not damage natural lashes. Izumi uses professional-grade materials and applies each extension individually with precise weight and length matching to protect your natural lash. Damage occurs when extensions are too heavy, too long, or improperly bonded, which is why choosing an experienced artist matters. Can I wear mascara with lash extensions?
Generally, no, mascara is not needed and can break down the adhesive bond, shortening the life of your extensions. If you want more drama on occasion, a water-based mascara applied only to the tips is an option, but Izumi will advise you at your appointment.
What is the difference between Classic, Hybrid and Volume lashes?
Classic: one extension per natural lash, natural, defined. Hybrid: a mix of Classic and Volume, textured and fuller. How do I prepare for my lash appointment?
Come with clean lashes, no mascara, eye makeup or oily products around the eye area. Avoid caffeine beforehand if you tend to fidget. Wear comfortable clothing and expect to relax for 1.5–2 hours. Contact lens wearers should bring their glasses.
